The settee cushions in my 335 are not staying in place with the current velcro method of attachment. I am talking about the cuhions that support your back and the ones you sit on. What have others found is the best way to secure these cushions, yet still have them easy to remove.

Velcro is useless
What really works is to have your local seamstress sew on the back a square foot or two of that rubberized roll for kitchen cabinets, as sold at Target. That will keep the horozontal cushions from sliding off. As for the verticle cushions, they're going to pitch with the boat. One alternative is to construct tabs with button attachments, but that seems unsightly. When you go below, just put them back up instead. At least the bottom cushions will have stayed in place.

A lot of people aren't aware that all velcro isn't the same...it's available in several "strengths"...from light duty to "industrial strength" that grips so tightly that it literally takes brute force to pull it apart. You're right that lightweight Velco is useful for securing cushions, but the heavy-duty stuff would keep 'em in place through a typhoon in the Southern Ocean.

Colin: The ones on our H'31 are secured to the seatback with a piece of material that was sewed to the cushion and snaps are attached. The cushion is then attached to the snaps on the bulkheads. The bottom cushions were attached with velcro that has lost most of it's ability hold. There are different types/sizes of velcro that can hold almost anything. The stuff that we can usually purchase is not too good for something like these cushions but is available from other sources. You could also use the velcro to attach the backs if you prefer.

the cushions in my 1995 H29.5 are all held with velcro. Pretty strong stuff it is too! We ahve never in7 sailing seasons have even one cushion come loose! Maybe you should contact Hunter to find out what they used. Good Sailing Bill Murray S/V Good Faith H29.5 #175 (1995)

have velcro. In comes in varying widths, lengths, and strength. You have to really work to remove the back cushions on my H37C. And that is some old velcro. The bottom cushions are kept in place by a fiddle that runs the length of both settees.
