Just bought a Hunter 216 and noticed water accumulates in the cuby area... from the mast most likely... any suggestions on how to minimize this from happening so much...? Thanks!

Contact Hunter for a real mastboot/check archives

Hi Bob, Water accumlating in the cabin is a common problem with the earlier Hunter 216 models. The good news is that is can be solved by getting a proper canvas mast boot from Hunter (1-800-771-5556), binding with mast boot tape and filling the sail slide groove below the mast boot with a good grade silicon. One can also check the archives of this site and should find other information on this problem if you are so inclined. Hope this helps, Lamar

mast boot

I have never had any luck getting anything from Hunter. They usually refer me to the dealer who is equally unhelpful. If you nhave any luck getting the mast boot can you post who you talk to here. I would really like to get one. I have seen it a a boat show and beleive it would work. You could make one but so far that has seemed like to much trouble to me. Also I always thought all the water was coming from thee mast and was suprised when I spilled a soda during set up this year that the chain plates were leaking badly and needed to be re-bedded.
