We have started spring cleaning of the boat, and discovered many of our spare lines have got oily and dirty. What is the best way to clean these nylon lines? Anyone know of a "miracle" cleaner that will get all the oil out and leave them squeaky clean? Anyone ever try putting the in a washing machine?

Put 'em in a pillowcase or mesh bag

And throw 'em in the washer with plenty of detergent...Wisk is best for this. Don't pack the bag too tight..leave room for plenty of water to swish around the lines. Use fabric softener in the rinse water or the dryer. Be sure to bag 'em...if you wash 'em loose they'll get all tangled up and try to unravel.

Yes indeed

Use a washing machine, but use the steel industrial types found in laundramats. Besides detergent, add Oxident bleach and fabric softener. Use the hottest temp possible. I'm amazed more people don't clean their lines.
