Have an expandable for the house. They recommend not leaving it in the sun as that causes rapid aging of the hose. I've use standard house garden hose for many years and not had any issues.

Some of the white hoses have colored stripes running lengthwise that help when untangling or rolling the hose up. As long as the stripes appear straight the hose will be relatively kink free. Also, purchase the cheapest spray hose end fitting you can find. The best ones have absolutely no metal components and are immune to salt water corrosion.

The potable water hoses do have thinner wall thickness and like to kink. Hook it up and pressurize the hose prior to use. Same thing with coiling - coil prior to depressuring.

If you are intending to just use this as a wash down house I would recommend a birdlike hose... Cheap cheap cheap. I have a 50 foot hose wrapped around my dock box for years now. Bought it at Walmart for under $10.00 my neighbors on my dock seemed to like it so well that they use it all the time too, also have a cheap 99 cents hose nozzle. My theory is when it goes bad throw it in the dumpster and buy a new one. I also have a white hose for filling the tank's but I never use it. I just use my regular hose to fill the tanks.

I had a black rubber hose one season, but it left marks if dragged across the cabin top.

A lot of states don't allow standard brass fittings where they come in contact with potable water. The lead content that makes the brass machinable can leach into the water. "Low lead" brass is very expensive and has been hard to find. The best choice would be stainless steel fittings.

The red rubber ones are just as durable and don't leave marks.

Although I use a no-kink hose, if coiled up with enough twist, it does kink. The solution has been a "no kink" hose with single different color strip. After use, I stretch it out on the dock, pull and turn until there is no twist, and then coil it with no twist.

I've been using a 50' expandable hose for 3 years for the boat and have some at the house also. I've never had any issues with them and just the pure convenience of being able to throw it in a small bucket in the lazarette is so worth it. But that's just my experience with these hoses and it would appear as though I'm in the minority.....

At home with yard work I've used a reel to manage the hose. Plastic. Does a great job of maintaing the hose kink free. Not overly expensive. Does deterioate and like so many things now adays is considered as a "planned obsolescent" product. We are now a throw away society.

Did a fair bit of research and settled on this hose.
https://www.waterrightinc.com/pages/what-sets-us-apart.
Water Right coil hoses are made from world-class polyurethane materials. Not regrind, not blends, not inferior plastics. Water Right uses only drinking water safe polyurethanes that meets both FDA and NSF standards. Water Right uses a polyether-based polyurethane that is designed for long-term water use and does not use lesser expensive polyester blends that crack or spring pin-hole leaks after just a few months

Wow RLP, that looks like a great travel hose. Not sure how well it would work having to drag it across deck fittings and lifelines having it snag on items - that is where a traditional hose works best.
