Considering a small (under 30') trailerable boat and want opinions on the best used trailerables! Obviously everybody thinks theirs is the best but pros and cons encouraged. Things I'm considering: * Ease of raising the stick myself and singlehanding (son is 6) * Weight (V6 Explorer) * Overall quality of workmanship * One design class for poss. racing * Ches. Bay is generally light air in summer but will blow in spring and fall. I'll sail from April thru November. * Spaciousness of cabin, CB vs. wing keel (I am only 5'7") * Re-sale value Thanks in advance for your thoughts, I am sure many will appreciate the debate!

water ballast

With the Explored look at the Hunter 23.5 ,Macgregor 26, and Santana 23 all good boats with water ballast much easier to tow. They all have mast raising systems that makes it possible for one person to set the mast.I'm sure their are others that will fill the bill, you need to tryout as many boats as you can to see what trips your trigger.

Islander/Wayfairer 30 sail number 25 Perryville,Md.
Full standing head room on deck

My friends sold their O'Day 27 this spring and kept their macgregor 21. As you know in the chesapeake it is when you go agound not if, they just jump over the side and push and climb back on. They have trailered this boat to Florida and spent the winter on it with Myles the golden retriever. I think that the best boat is one that suits your needs and your budget. There is a man at our marina that bought a West Wight Potter, Fifteen feet long, he keeps it in a slip and sometimes spends the night on it.

My Opinion...

I owned a Mac 26S and NOW a Mac 26X. Both great boats to trailer, sail, set up, single handle, and FUN TO UPGRADE EASILY. Without a doubt...the MAC-X...plenty of room, comfortable, "SAFE", and accomodations are easy to do "OVERNIGHTERS" with family. Make a decision ONLY after youve tried and looked at the MAC-X. Happy Sailing to you and YOURS ! BY THE WAY, I tow with a FORD F150 V-6...NO PROBLEMS !
