Best Thing I Ever Purchased For My Boat

The best thing I purchased for my boat, that never actually made it to the boat, was a Black and Decker coffee maker with a thermos style carafe. Use it everyday and keeps my coffee warm for hours!

What was your best purchase that never made it to the boat?

Cafejo

It is called a Cafejo and makes the best cup of coffee yet (on the boat) with no fuss or mess.
It uses K-cups and all you do is boil water on your stove.

For us, in keeping with the above trend, in a house and/or on the boat.......

Stainless steel, thermal mugs, coffee presses, and a small stainless steel thermal coffee press.

We have tried a number of different coffee makers. We first tried a Melita drip pot, but were afraid we would break the glass, and did not know what to do when we run out of filters. We tried a plastic coffee press from West Marine, but the coffee was cold almost before we could drink it.

Greg- the french press is the only way I've made coffee for years. Have an 10 cup insulated Bodum at the house, and HAD a 4 cup stainless onboard. My ex took it. Now I've got a 4 cup Pyrex one on the boat. I'll get another stainless one soon as I can afford it-grin

Had one of the small Lexan ones, but it cracked one morning, and spread 4 cups of coffee all over. Got any idea how far four cups of coffee can spread? And how FAST??

(1) Pressure cooker. And it does make it to the boat when I can sneak it out of the house. (2) Stadium cushions for more back support in the cockpit, when I can sneak them out of her car.

Best thing I have ever bought is a PSS seal for the prop shaft and got rid of that dreadful Volvo seal.

I was given a nice bottle of signal malt for my anniversary by my wife for the boat when I set sail for the summer.....sadly It never made it to the boat as I polished it off before my trip.......hope this counts...

I second that coffee maker. No heat element under the pot to wait to cool off before storing. I got it because it was small enough that it worked on my 1000 inverter. I wanted a second pot but it would have cost $25, so I just got the whole 2nd set for $30. Works well, expecially if you can pre-heat the pot with hot water before coffee is put into it.

We purchased an antique drip coffee maker, no filters necessary and the coffee can be re-heated. It does take up a lot of space but worth all 12 cups of volume!

I have a cheap 5 cup coffee maker but really never used it unless it was plugged in at the dock. I have a percolator that does ok, especially if you like to chew your coffee. I wonder if I removed the burner plate circuit from the small coffee maker if it would reduce the wattage?

My best purchase? Blocks and hardware to bring my halyards back to the cockpit and maybe the new Chartplotter.

We have two cut glass glasses reserved for scotch on our boat. We keep plastic for others but the clink of ice in a fine glass just seems to make a sipping scotch at sunset just that much finer.
