Would greatly appreciate information on the best prop (diameter X pitch and number of blades) is best suited for the 26M with a Honda 50. I have tried a 3 blade 11 5/8 x 11 and got 4400 rpm WOT. Im leaning towards a 4 blade, thinking it would be more efficient at slow speed (less than 6 knots). 5000-6000 rpm WOT is the range for the Honda. THANK YOU!

Try a 9 pitch

I am experimenting too, and have found an 8 pitch is too low. It appears to me that a 9 or 10 would be about right.

PROPS

I have a 50hp Honda on my M26, and a 3 x 10.5 x 10, and I could not get above 4800 rpms. I had prop repitched to 9, and it came up to aprox 5100 rpms. And only getting 12 or 13 mph. also elevation here is 5600' may effect it some. This year I just purchased 2, 4 x 11.25 x 9, and 4 x 11.75 x 8, I will not be in the water for another 3 to 4 weeks, but I'll report back the results on each prop.

Prop Talk

I have a Honda on my 26M and I have two props. The OEM that was put on by the dealer as a 3 X 10.75 X 12 but over rev'd a bit so I had it repitched to 3 X 10.75 X 13 and that got me to 5800 rpm but I suspect there was a lot of slippage because speed was only about 16-18 but I still had the rpm matched. A year or so later I bought a Solas Alcup 4 x 11.4 x 10 but it also needed re-pitching, twice. Turned out the man. spec pitch was in error as it was measured @ 10.75 pitch. Anyway in the end I had it repitched to 11.4 X 9.75 and it now works great, I am at 5900 rpm and have had speeds of 17-19 mph, in hindsight I would get the 4 X 11.8 X 9 wihich would match right out of the box. Yes the 4 blade does provide better slow speed maneuvering, gets you on plane sooner and has lower rpms at cruising speeds but due to the extra blade causing extra drag has lower top end speed. No big deal. The Honda is a good dependable, reliable bullit proof engine but it lacks the low end torque these big boats require to push them. I have found the 4 blade helps by increasing the blade surface to move more water because the Honda only swings a 12" max. diameter prop. (Next engine will swing a 14" diameter) Either get the big Dog Eared 3 blade or a 4 blade, a medium cupped edge helps too.
