Hi Peggy!

As you know from the other posts, I replaced the W-C Headmate.

Will be killing the "Y" valve-thru hull configuration. (saves on hose too!)

Replacing the hose from the toilet to holding tank and want to use Trident Sani Shield Sanitation Hose #102.

I think I saw someplace where you gave the names of a couple places that had it for a lot less than WestMarine.
If it would be appropriate, would you please give me the names and contact info?
BTW, not sure what I'm doing with the vent hose (or in general).

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

Vent hose is 5/8" hose and you can use the Trident 148 series hose for it and the intake line. Not sure of the diameter of the intake hose line though. :)

Definitely sbo.com chandlery

Sbo.com has as good a price as I've found anywhere for 101/102...use 148 for head intake and tank vent lines.

And speaking of head intake...don't forget that you need a vented loop between the pump and the bowl.

Hi, In several sailboats I've owned over the years I notice the same problem: After leaving the boat for a week or so, I open the seacock for head intake and flush out the intake line. I try to do this before guests arrive, because the first flush always smells. The successive flushes are not accompanied by this foul odor. I believe this "first flush stench" happens when putrified water from the intake line enters the bowl. The water left in the intake hose when the seacock is closed becomes very foul. Have any of you found a solution to this problem?

Either live with it and pump some more, use the boat more often or tap into the head sink outlet with the inlet to the head pump and use fresh water from the sink for the last pump through of the day before you leave the boat.

I keep reading this - so *why oh why* do none of the head kits sold ever include this item ??? They always just have a straight section of hose from the pump to the bowl, and then, buried in the manual somewhere, tell you that you need to throw-away the connecting hose that they shipped, and buy a vented loop kit for another 35 bucks.

It is just another piece of plastic (5 bucks maybe ???)

Why not just include the damm thing with the head and charge a bit more.

This is intensely frustrating !!! (and yet another frigging trip the the marine supply store)

For PKFK and Shooter...

For PKFK Vented loops:
Intake vented loop is only needed if the toilet is installed below waterline...fewer than 50% of 'em are. So if toilet mfrs included vented loops in toilets, half that cost would be wasted money...waste money means higher prices.

Installation instructions for almost everything are on the mfrs' websites...so if you don't want to have to make another trip to the boat store, download and read 'em before you go the first time.

For Shooter Trident hose prices:

You said, "I think I saw someplace where you gave the names of a couple places that had it for a lot less than WestMarine."

Yep...you saw that right here in this thread!
