Hi, we are the new owners of a new dinghy and are curious what more experienced sailers think are the most reliable online sites for things like dry bags, safety equipment, anchors, etc.

Depends. The store here on SBO is a good starting point for general items. Defender pretty consistently has good prices and selection. Delivery to some areas of NY is overnight for standard rates. For reasonable prices and good technical advice try Annapolis Performance Sailing.
For some items, like dry bags, there may be a better selection at REI or EMS in the kayaking and canoeing sections.
There is one online and brick and mortar retailer that is conspicuously absent for good reason, the prices are too high.

I know that one and yes prices were very high. They also told us they had something in stock. we drove an hour and it wasn't. I was impressed with the APS site. We're also longtime REI members. thanks.
The big outfitters, like Defender and APS have regular sales. APS has a good sale on line in January with very deep discounts. The spring Defender sale on the last weekend in March is probably the best sale they have all year, everything is marked down. Sales are also timed with boat shows, look for a lot of sales around the time of the Annapolis show in October.
I've also had look luck with Mauri Pro-good prices and free shipping.

I don't think West matches price unless it was a retail price( nnot on sale), and must be like a couple weeks previous. I'm sure someone on here know the facts.
You may not be aware that the new WM CEO made a major change in WMs' price match policy about 5 minutes after he moved into his office: they now only price match other LOCAL retailers.
Sbo.com's prices for most things are pretty competitive and sometimes they even beat the competition. The store is where the money to keep this site up and running comes from. So y'all might want to remember that when you need/want something and shop here first. If their price isn't outrageously higher (sbo.com can't buy in the same volume Defender and the other major retailers can, and they do have to make a little on every item), it's worth paying a little more to support this gabfest.

I found Fisheries Supply to often times be competitive. Especially if you are buying enough stuff to open an account.

Fisheries Supply is sort of a cross between Defender and Hamilton Marine on the East Coast. I'd shop there more often, but it takes more than a week for things to arrive.
Yep very aware of their new policy.... has to be 50 miles and defender is. So now when I buy my 300 feet of chain, I don't have to pay for shipping and get the best price. But indeed have to shop around.... I just had to replace a fresh water pump..... got it through amazon for $20 better than anybody.
SBO site is my first go to because they carry Hunter original parts or equivalents and they are so darn helpful. If you have any questions on fit, or have difficulty with a particular part, they can help. If it’s not shown on the web site they can often get it for you
As of May, 2019 West Marine no longer price matches Defender.
If you're in the store, don't speak too loudly...

I was there last week and they price matched everything I bought from defender.... saved about $30. 50 mile rule. You are in fla..... I am in ny across the sound.
