Any recommendations for the best line to use for a mainsheet. Looking for something that's soft on the hands and supple.

Funny, I just replaced my jib and mainsheet with Samson Trophy Braid, priced well and feels great on the hands. It's also available in a bunch of sizes and colors..

"Hand" means different things to different skippers. You live in Annapolis. I hear there are about three gazillion chandleries around there, might have something to do with sailing, too. :)

Really, go into a store and try them out.

NER Stay Set has worked well for us for sheets for the past 35 years. Others like Sampson better.

Your sheets, your boat, your choice.

I think the original sheets were New England Sta-set. Fairly good hand. Not terribly expensive. If you are not an all out racer, this would probably not be a bad choice.

I replaced my mainsheet with New England Ropes Regatta Braid (12 Strand Spun Filament Polyester single braid) when I purchased my B381 in Jan 2010. I have been very happy with it and easy on the hands.

BTW - Looks like you are about 10-12 slips down from me on HHS P-Dock.

Thanks for all the responses. Paul, we used to be on P dock but moved to N dock; long story short, they used to have us in an over-sized slip. I wanted opinions because, frankly, most line feels great when it's brand new in the shop. I wanted to know how everyone liked the line they bought a year later, after it has been exposed to the marine environment. You don't get that in the shop. We like the sheet we have now so much that it's almost sad we have to replace it. Thanks again.

I'm using 10mm FSE Robline Racing Sheet Pro on my Beneteau 31. Big step up from StaSet in quality and low stretch, but not terribly priced. Very supple and easy on the hands, even after 3 years. Doesn't get stiff or hard like StaSet does. Still looks great too.
