May be a silly question but is there a certain preferable location for a bilge pump on a H22? I just bought this boat and there was not one installed.

Deepest point

You want to set your bilge pump intake at the deepest point in the bilge so that as little water as possible will accumulate there.

Good Question

I have a 1983 H22 with a fixed keel. I have not found a good position for a bilge pump. The low point for water collection is under the floor boards on my fixed keel. I typically lift the floor boards and pump out the water as needed. Does the H22 with a centerboard have this bilge area under the floor boards, or is there ballast weights under the floor boards.

Lead under floor panels

Bud, there's lead weights under the floor panels so no room there for bilge. There's an access floor panel under the sink that would be a perfect location but it's depth is barely two inches. From what I can see the only place to permanently mount the bilge is the center aft section. Hardly the lowest point but right now the only point.

Hunter 22 bilge

I have hunter 22 and there is a pump located under sink and to the rear slight. There is only a few(4 Inches) inches but it is enough to get one of those smaller pumps in there. I then have a removable port like cover that is over the pump. Not quite sure why I need a port cover anyway.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Under sink

I installed my bilge pump under the sink at that blige access. Put the float switch right beside it. I ran the hose to the stern of the boat (much better there and you won't have to worry about a syphon factor). It was easy to do and I used fiberglass resin to attach the bilge pump mount to the hull. Good Luck!
