Best line to use for pendants

FOR FLAGS, Okay this should be simple but when I had the mast down I added some flag pendant lines to the spreaders. It's only been a few months and they are losing color and feel different. Before they rot out I want to replace them with something that will last a bit.
I got these nylon from the big box store as the guy at the boat yard said the nylon was good to use. I've seen 3/16" and 1/8" at WM for a buck a foot but am trying to avoid that cost as the spreaders are way up there.
Any recommendations are appreciated. ( FYI,I've already heard the "just spend the money answer":))

Just to be clear, without nitpicking, flag halyard is a more appropriate name for this... it's a moving thing.
Whereas, a pendant is a length of line or wire used for connection purposes... it is relatively static in nature.

Well that explains why I had no luck finding my answer before posting, thanks Joe.

1/8” polyester braid works well for flag halyards, you can buy it in bulk reels for very little and the stuff is infinitely useful for lashing, tying, braiding and general boat use. This stuff.

Best line to use for pendants.....

(1) "Calm down. Don't get your fibers in a twist."
(2) "Why are you hanging around with this bunch of washed up sheets?"
(3) "How did you get roped into this job?"
(4) "Same old, same old, haul 'em up in the morning and haul 'em down at night." (sails, flags, clothes, etc)
(5) "I'm knot that kind of pendant!"
(6) "They told me to go smoke a rope. I wonder what that means?"
