Water until the Anchor Drops.

I used to have a beer while sailing my Catalina 25. When I went to my 37, I think I smartened up. Only bottled water. I won't drink alcohol until the anchor drops. Then it's usually a beer, first. Then I relax with a white wine, great dinner and a nice CD.

Bellini's

My neighbor here is preparing Bellini's, not sure of the recipe but the birds love them. Peaches, champagne, and some other sugary/peachy stuff on the rim. A favorite among admirals throughout newport.

Jack, ice, water...

Get Jack out of the cupboard, add ice, add water. Just as good the last sip as the first and no more complex than a pleasant sail on a good day. Mike

Hey Rich, Groton Conn. I may come lookin' for

ya 'cause those margaritas sound GREAT! For me water or ginger ale while out. Back on the mooring a cold beer or two to start and them maybe a Boodles martini-dry-rocks-dirty olives, or a Sea Breeze.

a James Bond Martini for Rob...

Thanks for the kind words, Rob; since you're a Martini guy I'll share my Martini recipes (for when you're watching your boxed set of 007 DVD's): Vodka Martini: use Smirnoff Triple Distilled vodka, which is very smooth and neutral, with Martini and Rossi dry vermouth (it's not a "Martini" without the "Martini"!). 1 part Martini to 2 parts Smirnoff, over cracked ice with generous twist of lemon. "Shaken, not stirred"! Splash of tonic (NOT seltzer)if you like some bubbles. You can decant to your glass or keep it on ice. Save the olive for your crackers or a gin martini. Gin Martini: Gin has more flavor than Vodka, so using the less neutral vermouths like Noilly Prat or Cinzano works for these. 1 part vermouth, 2 parts gin, generous splash of tonic, over cracked ice, and you get to use your olive... Cheers!
