Ok Here's the challenge! Any ideas on the best RIB inflatable dingy? We need to decide soon. Thanks

Lots of good ones..

I have a 9 foot Zepplin Zulu model with a 9.9 Yamaha. It works pretty well but it's not a real dry ride if it's rough. What ever inflatable you get make sure that it is made from Hypalon. Mark Johnson

Practical Sailor reviews

Practical Sailor has a review on these on a regular basis. I believe that the last one was within the past year. For price and quality look at the Caribe and the AB. I believe that they are made in So. America and they are made of hypalon. Good luck

Crusing World Review

Did you see the Dec. Crusing World review of the new 460. For the most part they liked it. The hit Hunter for a few things which most of us have heard before. They did give Hunter a chance to respond.

Stay away from the Caribe 9'3"

I have a 9'3" C9X Caribe. It is very difficult to get to plane with an 8 and a 9.9. Even with a 15 it's tough. The 10' model is a different story. That one planes more readily.

I had a 10'

I had a 10' AB hardbottom with a 9.9hp Yamaha on a charter that I did. It planed OK with 1-2 people and was a ery rugged boat. But more than 2 people, and it wouldn't plane. That didn't surprise me, though. I was very impressed with the quality and durability of the boat, but it is also heavy to tow all the time.

Zodiac works for us..

Sandy, At '98 Annapolis Boat Show, we ordered a Zodiac HP 285 Fastroller. Saw an ad for it in Sail Mag, (a couple carrying sailing gear/fuel tank etc across a parking lot using just the inflatable floor). Floor inflates rock hard, is tough as nails, and extremely light. The unit is 9'4" long, 4' wide, weighs only 52lbs, 1080lb capacity, inflates in minutes, deflates/rolls up to about 3'x2' to about and works for us. Chose Zodiac, as I figured what was good enough for Navy Seals, Jacques Cousteau, and the Coast Guard was good enough for me. Got a 5 hp Nissan 4 stroke for it- OUTSTANDING motor- no oil to mix with fuel. I am 225lbs and it will plane with me quickly. I don't look for planing, but was advised 5hp was good choice to fight strong currents if needed. Got it from Air Works, Annapolis. Happy hunting.

RIB or just inflatable?

A RIB is harder to stow. We have a Zodiac FR310. The high pressure floor isnt as stiff as it looks in the advertising, it undulates over waves, but its easy to roll-up and stow. It goes like stink with a 5 hp Nissan and one occupant, but its ppure displacement when loaded. We have a pvc model, but we keep it stowed most of the time. I would echo the suggestion to get a hypalon version if you leave it exposed to weather alot.
