having trouble finding a prop for a 1988 285 first. the prop hub is stamped 15 12LH 30 which would indicate a 15" prop with a 12 pitch on a 30cm. shaft. sent the hub to Millers Island Props,but they say it is a 25cm. bore. don't know whats going on.other than having a prop made up is there some place that i can go for a metric prop

Hopefully you mean 25mm. Check the prop shat diameter with at least a vernier caliper or possibly a micrometer. I would suggest that a 30mm shaft would have been overkill for original sizing.
Be aware that in a boat of the age of yours, the shaft may not be the original either.
Being a French boat, the origin of the prop is likely European. Beneteau USA may be able to provide sourcing here in the US.

that era bene 375 my shaft is 25mm on a 30hp motor. I wouldn't expect a smaller lighter design to have a thicker shaft.
tried beneteau spare parts, never heard back from them. millers island is casting one for me. it's gonna cost me but at least i have it for fall. 25mm is sounds better. still haven't resolved the discrepancy of what is stamped on the hub(15 12LH 30) and what the shaft size really is. Why would they have the prop length (15) in inches and the shaft size metric?
They don't. Your boat doesn't have a 30mm shaft. The number stamped on the prop refers to something else.

My 343 has a 25mm shaft with a 30hp motor. Pity that you couldn't get the size information and source from Beneteau. I would call Ward Richardson or Debbie at Beneteau USA and pester them until they get the information for you. They have to have that info on file in their system. Another source might be to talk to Michael James at Murray Yacht sales to see if they can get the info from Beneteau; they can hopefully get the full attention from Beneteau as they are a big Beneteau dealer. Another source would be Annapolis Yacht Sales (Beneteau dealer); they have a very knowledgeable parts department and good inventory of parts. I have purchased from them in the past and they were very helpful. If all else fails, you might check with the mechanics at Sintes boat yard at West End or Aaron at Seabrook boat yard to see if there is a local prop shop that could help you. The important thing is to get the correct internal diameter to fit the shaft, the correct diameter of the blades , number of blades, and pitch that matches your motor and hull displacement otherwise, the motor isn't going to run at the correct RPM's at hull speed.
