Buy the Beneteau
Before I bought my Beneteau 310, I looked at lots of Hunters. My conclusion was the same with all of them. They tend to be more roomy, comfortable, etc. but all that extra cabin space costs you in sailing performance. In terms of quality, I would rate the Hunter boats as Chevrolets and the Beneteaus as Buick Park Avenues. After 10 years the Beneteaus still look great. They have a much better fit and finish. I bought a sail boat to sail and so I decided that sailing performance was more important than interior accomodation. But, while my interior is a little cramped, it is beautiful and well thought out. Resale on Beneteaus is also much better as far as I can tell.
