Doesn't look like this sites brand forums are too popular. Is there another Beneteau forum that is descent?

B's just don't have that many brand-specific problems. Yanmar, Lewmar, and others, yes.
You'll find more activity here. Lot's of good input from knowledgeable people.

Perhaps, but as a novice sailor and new boat owner I have learned a tremendous amount from the Ask All Sailors portion of this forum!

SoSound, I'm glad you like it, but the site bills itself as BeneteauOwners.com and it is not. I glad to know about the google group and will apply for membership. The old version of this site has some limited exchange between Beneteau owners. After the change, it has not.

Something must have changed because the site used to come up with SBO graphics, not beneteau owner graphics.
I've been away from this stuff for a while, and I am GUESSING about how this is set up but... It should all be a part of SailboatOwners.com, they have several brand specific filters or "forums" set up so that you don't have to wade through the entire alphabet to get to your brands posts if you own a Telstar or a Yamaha. You can go to SailboatOwners.com and under the "Forum" menu there is a selection for "Brand-Specific Furums", there are 31 different brands, plus one "Other". They can short-cut the process by setting up a URL for "BeneteauOwners.com" which automatically filters the forums so that you only get choices for "Beneteau" (or one of several other brands) and "Shared" (you don't even have to know that Seidelmann exists if you don't want to...
Forums such as this have differing levels of pertinence, value, trustworthiness (? that's a word?) and social interaction. I use two, this one and one much more specific to my Beneteau First 285. I specifically like the breadth of experience and the cross-brand exchange of information that takes place through the Ask All Sailors forum here. Unfortunately, it seems that Beneteau owners have segregated themselves into even smaller forums all the way down to the specific model level (235/285, 393, etc., etc.) and those sites seem to be scattered all over the internet...
Sailingdog, I would speculate that at some point you followed a post from some sailing newb like me over to the Beneteau owners forum and ended up finished there when you closed your browser, it could be that the site left your site specific preferences (cookie or whatever?) identifying BeneteauOwners as your starting place. I'd bet that if you find your way back to SailboatOwners via one of the links at the bottom of the page that your screen will go back to what you previously had...
I also like the fact that I almost ALWAYS find the people who spend time on this site to be very civil and respectful of everyone who visits. Which is not the case on a few forums that I've seen...

I just joined the google forum listed above. Finally, I found discussions on topics specific to Beneteaus. I didn't see any uncivil or disrespectful talk, etc. I think this site is O.K. for generic sailing topics, but I think it is very misleading to type "BeneteauOwners.com"and get this site that has no Beneteau specific traffic. It's a web form of bait and switch.

I think you are taking umbrage too quickly. The site owners are encouraging discussion and providing a forum to do it. The Beneteau forum hasn't caught fire yet, but how would you expect to start one, if not at the beginning? The other forums out there started somewhere, too. Maybe if you posted something Beneteau specific, you could help get that forum started here.
I think this is the best sailboat forum on the 'net. But, it's mostly about the participants.
It all depends on what you want to learn
I like this 'site because I've learned a lot as well as met a number of people with whom we've worked off line together to make their boats safer electrically. Others like more specific websites to their boats and some to their specific models, if not models and years(!), too. I like our C34 site & MB, too, because we have a lot of good info "stored" there. And I check in on the C36 & C25 'sites also. jviss is right, it's the people, dare I say, dummy?!?
So, agaliha, you can keep comin' back here, and do the other thing, too. Look forward to seeing you again.

I wasn't referring to the Beneteau Google group as being uncivil, I haven't been there yet - but I probably will once I work up the energy to create and record yet another user identity. I've been lurking and posting around here since before we purchased our Beneteau. I first visited this forum because I found the Beneteau Owners URL on Google, and I found many resources here that helped me search for and make a decision on my sailboat purchase (specs, pricing guidelines for sellers, current and past for sale ads, and active threads). And I find the volume and quality of the posts and conversation here to be very high (Stu not withstanding ).
I'm with Stu on the invitation to keep visiting here though. Any place with thread counts and post counts in the thousands (rather than dozens) can't be all bad.

No, that isn't the case... I'm using the same bookmark that I've been using since I joined the SBO forums... the graphics have changed... and it isn't due to me following a link anywhere.
I could take the easy way out here, shrug my shoulders and say "well, I-dunno then...", but there are a couple of other possibilities; the banner for the top and the graphics could have been mixed up at some point. If that was the case then if you cleared your browser's cache and reloaded sailboatowners.com then it should return to normal. Depending on your connection, everything that you visit could slow slightly as your browser reloads everything that ends up stored locally. But in theory, once any mix up in graphics had been corrected at the server, it should also have updated the image stored on your computer (could possibly be affected by your browser preferences and settings though)...
My bookmark is for 'beneteau.sailboatowners.com', and I get the BeneteauOwners banner and a Beneteau Owners Forum option in the Forum menu. If I go to 'sailboatowners.com', I have a SailboatOwners banner and different Forum menu selections and different Sailing Photos on the home page. You could delete (then recreate) or edit your bookmark to make sure it is pointing to 'sailboatowners.com'. My real point though is that the bookmark is only one part of the puzzle, it's entirely possible that a site could save other settings and options based on what part of the site you last visited. It's how a web site gets "personalized" for you.

That's not it either, since when I click on the links at the bottom, the SBO graphics are visible... but when I go back to my bookmark, which was to http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/index.php, the SBO graphics disappear... Ain't on my side.

If I were still working in systems support, I'd say that the SBO graphics were accidentally overwritten at some point with the Beneteau graphics and that's what is cached on your computer. If I were having this problem myself, I'd consider working more on my boat and sailing. You propably have greater personal influence over geography, geometry, physics, biology, meteorology, and local magnetic variations than what happens when you click on a bookmark...

i really don't care if the graphics are wrong, and given my technical background, fixing the problem wouldn't be much of an issue.... it isn't the cached files or the sbo graphics wouldn't show up ever...

That's partially true, because cached files aren't limited to just graphics. There are other cached html, templates, style sheets, and who knows what else since I stopped caring about them...
