(Opps! I placed the topic in the wrong spot before...) What is the general experience of owners related to after sales repairs and support from Beneteau? I am considering a Beneteau at this time. Best regards

Outstanding

I own 2002 Beneteau 361 and have a few issues requiring after sales support and found Beneteau USA and the local dealer to be outstanding. A lot depends on the local dealer and ours in Charleston is without equal. As an example, I had an issue last year with the water lubrication thru hull on the shaft seal. The dealer worked with Beneteau to design a new part to replace the defective unit. The new part was made of stainless rather than the original brass fitting. Remember this is on a five year old boat. I would highly recommend Beneteau.

Thank you Stan

That helps a lot. Did you buy it new? I am thinking on purchasing a 2000-200? B47.3 or similar and I was wondering about getting parts and repairs done on a used boat. Claudius

Good Support from Beneteau

I have a Beneteau 323 purchased new in late 2004. Very few problems with the boat, mostly minor fiberglass work. The dealer was (and is) outstanding. Beneteau has provided tech support via email with fairly good turnaround time. They also have an online parts resource which is easy to access and use .

We bought our B361 new. What I learned about the boat is how little is actually Beneteau (or any other manufacturer) and how a sailboat is a 'system'. You'll get your support from the a/c supplier, the head supplier, the roller furling maufacturer, etc. I have found them all to be very supportive of the sailing community. Beneteau USA has an online parts system which is excellent.

after sale

I bought my Bene brokerage. The boat was three years old. The original commisioning dealer, SOUTHWESTERN YACHTS of San Diego, was absolutely worthless in dealing with the many electrical issues THEY CAUSED by their SHODDY WORK IN INSTALLING THE RADAR, THE INVERTER/CHARGER AND THE RADAR/CHARTPLOTTER AND THE EXTRA BATTERIES. Getting it right cost me about 2k bucks. When I tried to get help from them, they said the technician (and I use that term loosely) no longer worked for them, and they would have to arrange for their head of customer service to come up to Long Beach from San Diego. Of course, he never had the time. SOUTHWESTERN YACHTS is probably the WORST dealer in the country. They should call themselves SOUTHWORST. Others may have differing opinions.

CS36Merlin and Beneteau 393 - Toronto
Good from Ben & St. Barts

I bought my boat from St. Barts in Charleston and their support has been very good. The few times I've dealt with Beneteau, they have been quite responsive. A few folks I know bought from the dealer in Toronto and have had very poor service. I guess a lot depends on the dealer and if you're in the market for a new boat check with owners.

After sale support

We have had very few problems requiring support (knock on wood) on our B323 purchased new last year, but our dealer, Willis Marine in Huntington has been ready willing and able to help on the few occasions we have had any need. I have also found Beneteau's parts system easy to use.

new purchase

where you purchase the boat iss imho the most important issue when buying a new beneteau. there are good and there are really bad dealers out there.
