Recently had a power surge from a dock pedestal being smashed into down the dock. My shore power was plugged in when it happened. Since it happened, when I turn the main breaker on the AC distribution panel, the power and reverse polarity light come on very dim. Normally only the power light comes on bright. As soon as I turn any accessories on, the light goes out and there is no power to the outlets, battery charger, etc. Upon accessing the breaker ( which is an Air Pax double pole reverse polarity 30 amp breaker) I have 110v coming to the breaker but less than 50v coming out of the breaker in the on position. I'm thinking the breaker is bad. Any thoughts and or where to get one? Thanks John Beneteau 373

You may just end up having to search for the proper electrical specs and then check the physical specs and drawings to find what comes closest to fitting your old breaker and panel. I spent weeks, a couple of years ago, trying to find a breaker to fit an open panel location for my solar panel installation, after having Beneteau source a replacement to match the other breaker in that location… I still need up with a part where the spacing of the mounting screws did not match, and had to make a minor adjustment to the countersunk holes. Luckily, it‘s in a location where it can hardly be seen, and no one but me will ever know that it doesn’t match the one next to it.

not saying that this is your problem; however, everytime I have had a problem with reverse polarity, the problem was located at the dock box AC receptacle, the shore power cord ends, or the shore power inlet on the transom. look for melted plastic and discolored burn marks, where a short may be present.

Sounds like the breaker is bad. You can pop it out and measure the resistance with an ohm meter

I did and it passed resistance but as mentioned when powered up an in the on position, it only has 50v coming out. I'm having a hard time finding the replacement. Any idea where I might find one. Blue Seas makes one but it doesn't fit in the panel
