Beneteau 361: life raft size

Current life raft: plastimo for 6 persons, 2003, hard shell case, kept in the cockpit locker

I have the opportunuity to replace it with plastimo 8 persons, transocean+, 2003, hard shell case.

Any experience whether the one for 8 persons would fit into the cocpit locker?

Do you regularly sail with 8?

Life rafts are best when used at or near capacity. More stable in the water, and capacity allows shared body heat that offsets hypothermia. Bigger ones are also much heavier and more expensive to test and re-certify.

If it's a smokin deal then think about it, but bigger is not necessarily better.

I usually sail with no more than 4.

Considering your comments, I should and will keep the existing one regardless of the deal.
