Hi there, My wife and I are looking at several Beneteau 35s5's. They appear to be fast boats with reasonable room below and a nice layout. Are there any links to reviews of the 35s5 or brochure scans of this model? We also looked at a newer 33.7, but were not happy with the interior fit and finish compared to the 35s5. Thanks for any help, Robert B NY

Chartered a 32S5

I chartered a 32S5 one time and was very pleased with its' performance and livability. Spent a week aboard in the BVI with my family of 4.

Beneteau 35s5

Robert: I bought my (1991) 35s5 exactly one year ago and have no regrets at all. First some negative feedback; since most of these boats have been used for racing, the hardware and sails can be tired and in need of replacement. Count on approx $1,700.00 and $2,300.00 for a reasonably good jib and mainsail resp. I have replaced most of my blocks and running rigging. Once this was done she looks like new. One other point is the space between the stern lazarette and the wheel; having a small shoe size helps. Positives are; excellent sailability for shorthanded crews because of the fractional rig; space down under, spacy cockpit. The boat is very responsive and when trimmed well, she can sail on her own. Overall a great boat for inland and some coastal sailing. Good luck! Jan

36s7? Give it a look

Slightly bigger, and about the same money as a 35. They are really pretty, sail very fast and the interior is fabulous. Paul

I have a 1990 35s5 which we bought in June 2004. We have spent almost every weekend and most evenings rebuilding it. There is nothing on this boat that hasn't been touched, rebuilt, cleaned, replaced, taken apart, etc. I agree with the post regarding the small shoe size needed if you stand behind the wheel. We Love Our Boat! We will love it even more when we go cruising again. I have the original brochure in .pdf format if you would like a copy. I'll have to look though, it might all be in French but the pictures are nice... You can email me via the 35s5 owner's page.
