When a stuffing box starts to leak excessively, you should tighten the packing nut until the leak stops. This may be all that is required, but each time the nut is tightened, it squeezes and compresses the packing further, forcing it tighter around the shaft. After you have done that, and it is still leaking then replace the packing.

The Beneteau Spare Parts site (spareparts.beneteauusa.com) seems to show the Volvo dripless gland for a 351, not a traditional stuffing box. Not sure if that’s what they used on the 352 as well. If it is the Volvo gland I’m sure Beneteau could confirm the model and provide it, but their site says they’re providing only minimal support due to COVID-19. Looks like you can get it from Volvo Penta Shaft Seal if that’s what you have.

General Propeller P/N 828254 in Florida . If it's leaking bad put a hose clamp around it and give it a little tension this will stop leak. Have you greased it? When buying the seal order an extra tube of grease ,so you will be good for years, only use volvo grease, others may harden seal and cause leak
Flatten out a plastic straw at one end about an inch ,squeeze some grease into the straw, insert flatten straw under lip of seal .Run your fingers down the straw injecting grease into seal...every 200 engine hours or once a year. The plastic orange piece is to protect the lip seals during installtion. Install the orange piece first then onto shaft , then remove it
You can also add an SKF forsheda(V-ring) seal 25mm on the shaft and it goes up against the volvo ,gives you extra protection holds the grease in place and rotates with shaft, this is what I did on mine

Hello, My Beneteau comes with a Perkins M30, not a Volvo. I do not know if it is the same. But you know the size of the shaft.? I want to get the new one GLIDE Seat System but need to know the size of the shaft and now I am away from home so can not check the size of the shaft.

The Volvo seal is used regardless of the engine manufacturer. Our Bene is a Yanmar engine but still with the Volvo seal.

The Beneteau spare parts site says the 351 has a “Volvo stuffing gland dia 25”. So I’m guessing 25mm. Our 37 uses a 25mm shaft so I’d be surprised if the 352 used anything bigger.

The 352 and the 351 are the same boat, and my boat has a perkins M30 also. That is the correct P/N I gave you for your boat 25mm shaft and General Propeller delivers worldwide

Yes, but my Beneteau was build in South Caroline...So the shaft is 25 mm or 1 " ?? just want to make sure.

Sure the 25mm is correct but You could measure it just to be sure....... And as was said before, a little grease every year is important. Not to much though as it will clog the cutlass bearing.

Also, take some photos of the replacement..... I have no drips but A job I am anticipating in the years ahead on my 2005 423.

Good Luck!
