When purchasing out boat, this item was on the railing. It was no longer there when we took ownership. Any idea what this is?

A block of wood with a weird handle on it…. Doesn’t look OEM.

I wouldn’t be too worried about it…this is the sort of homemade things I would be removing on a “new to me” boat.

I'm going to go with Greg on this one. I don't know what it was but I'm fairly certain it is not anything you will miss.

Agreed, just curious what it was for and why they bothered to remove it. Bizarre eh?

Compared to the stories you often come across here of other previous owners’ mysteries, I’d say you’re in pretty good shape.

Wild Guess…
It looks like something installed beside the transom ladder with a bicycle type hand grip on it
to be used as a grab handle when climbing aboard.
whatever it is, its not a pro job. The longer bolts may have held some other piece of equipment/gadget. Inventor‘s name: Rube Goldberg..

Found out from the former owner that it was a bluetooth wind gauge. Didn't work.

Well I would not have guessed that. The aft pulpit isn’t a very good place for a wind gauge anyway. There’s lots of interference there from the sails, and even when the sails aren’t up there’s interference from the boat and its canvas.
