Beneteau 323 Alternator / Charging /Box

I’m having charging problems.
I have replace the isolator/splitter (was not that!)
but have now narrowed it down to that little grey box of electronics – picture below
One of red wires goes to the alternator as does one of the black the other red goes in to a loom!!
The white goes to the ground on the isolator/splitter.
I have seen it on another 323 so it is not the previous owners addition.
Does anyone know what it does?

Whatever it is, it is not original equipment. At least there is nothing like it on my 323. Judging from all of the little pieces of debris around it, it may have gotten wet at some point. If that is the case, the circuitry probably got fried.The wiring job looks a bit amateurish, note the clipped and apparently unused conductor beside the white wire.

Hhmmm... unusual. If that is a diode-type splitter, they are not the 'now' equipment to use. If you bought a new one, this would have been a good time to change out to an ACR- automatic battery combiner instead. But, on to the problem... Is there a wire number on the red that goes into the loom? What year and engine is this on?

Thanks for responses - A dealer has eventually come back saying Beneteau have advised the following - "This grey box is PN 069165 "BOX COUPL ALTERNATOR YAN 60A 10A" = 63,30 euros." and added, when asked what it did "
I am not an electrician, however, the electronics here say that it is a "charging box, that "opens a switch" allowing the windlass to work - i.e. no engine running no windlass". It is linked to the alternator."
My engine is a Yanmar 21hp 2007.
The isolator is a no voltage loss non diode type.
I'm now wondering if I can just run a lead from the ground alternator to the isolator. Thoughts - Thanks - Paul

Does that mean that is a relay for the anchor windlass, having nothing to do with the battery charging circuit? My boat does not have an anchor windlass which would explain its absence. From your photo, it appears that it is mounted near one of the engine mounts. Is that correct? I still wonder if it got wet.

It was originally mounted (cable tied) to water cooling pipe. Cables failed so I mounted on engine mount (photo). From the box the wires are as follows - "One of red wires goes to the alternator as does one of the black the other red goes in to a loom!! The white goes to the ground on the isolator/splitter." I now assume that if the alternator is charging the box tells the windlass it can be used. Apart from the spade connections the electronics are encased in resin.
The work around I have been using is to blip (short out quickly) between the alternator lead on the isolator and the starter or leisure battery connection on the isolator. You can hear the tone of the engine change and the led on the isolator comes on and the batteries start charging.
