Beneteau 311 swing keel drain tube...draining more than we'd like

We've been trying to chase down a mild but persistent bilge leak in our new-to-us 2001 311 that appears to be coming from the drain hose at the top of the swing keel column below the center console table (Image borrowed from spillarge's YouTube video about the mechanism, not mine). The hose empties into the bilge near the HVAC through hull / seacock; I've read in this forum that others drain into the sink drain which seems much more manageable.

I've read its purpose is to drain water out of the top of the mechanism, but is that a common occurrence? Can anyone think of a reason why this hose would drain regularly like that? Is the upper drain where the hose starts super close to the water level? The hose itself isn't leaking; there's no water outside of the hose. It's a lake boat, it's been sitting in the slip with no more rocking action than some windy days and us getting on and off the boat.

I suspect that's the reason the seacock handle is so rusted. Could I just put a cork in it by the arrowhead (attached), at least temporarily??

Water may be forced up the column through the centerboard slot when sailing - this is not unusual, my boat requires sealant at the top of the centerboard case to prevent the water from entering the boat. I would re-route the host to the sink drain or an external through hull as you say, don't want to dump into the bilge.

What are others doing to run this to a sink drain? Putting a tee in the drain hose from the sink? Or something more substantial like putting a 1 1/4" on top of the valve??

Just reread this… I meant a 1 1/4” tee on the valve…
