I have a 2001 311 and am in the process of replacing my instruments. Can anyone tell me where the hub is for the sea talk system. I found all the cable in the head behind the panel, but don,t know where the hub is.
Have you checked behind the panels next to the navigation station? Different boat, but that is where mine is located for ease of connecting AIS receiver and chart plotter repeater at the navigation station.
I am not sure what you mean by “hub”. Seatalk 1 instruments are basically daisy chained one to the next.
If you are going to use old Seatalk 1 instruments in conjunction with new Seatalk nG instruments you will need a bridge adapter. They are not very expensive and allow the old and the new to communicate to a degree. Older Seatalk is basically NMEA0183, and the newer is NMEA2000.
Thanks Doug. After visiting the tech support team with Ray Marine I learned that the instruments I installed are compatible with Seatalk1 and all I need is a converter cable.
