I have a Beneteau 265 which I am very happy with, but last weekend the boat in the adjacent slip broke loose in heavy weather and damaged the starboard side of my boat.

The major damage is to the toe rail where the top is bent inward about 3/4" for a lenght of about 3'. In addition 2 of the rivets broke off and several more are loose.

I am looking advice on the best option for repairs. Can the toe rail can be straightened or should the complete toe rail be replaced? If it is replaced how much of a job would it be.

Here are a few pictures of the damage.

Thanks for any info,
Jim

That's a damn shame Jim, and considerable damage. You will likely get lots of opinion, but I'd suggest you talk to Beneteau directly, they know the construction. Most likely that toe-rail also fastens the hull-deck joint. So there is a chance that the joint has been compromised, and with it structure.

This is exactly why Beneteau should be putting a rub-rail on their boats. You would be looking for a new stainless steel strike instead of major repairs.
