Benateau First and Beneteau

At the risk of appearing very naive, what is is the difference between a First Beneteau and a Beneteau. For example, I am looking at purchasing a Beneteau First 305 built in 1987. However,on this forum, I cannot seem to find any reference to the 305, much less an explanation between the two.Thanks for the help in advance.Mike

First & Oceanis

Beneteau offers the First and the Oceanis Series of sailboats. The First are better suited for racing, whereas the Oceanis series are more focussed on cruising.
