We are considering a move to a larger boat, but the new boat market is made up (mostly) of "RV's." Reviewing used boats, the Ben 36S7 from the late 90's looks a lot like our layout, inside and out. Any information on their sailing characteristics for short handed cruising would be appreciated. Also we need to know the true headroom inside throughout the cabin. Comments on storage and tankage? Hull-to-deck joint integrity? Leaks? If we find a shoal draft version, are they decent enough going to weather? Anyone with the lead keel version? All comments appreciated. Thanks again, Loren

Got One. We Love It!

We bought a 1996 is really poor condtion. A good cleanup and some upgrades to rigging and sails was all it took to make it pretty again. We have the 6'1" steel keel and would suggest that you avoid the shoal draft. It will not point well since these rigs already have a generous sail plan. Most of us with the 6'1" find it tender already and any less will reduce her performance. Send me your email and I can comment some more. Probably one of the most beautiful Beneteau designs ever. Have fun looking.

Great Value and Performance

We have a 1997 in very good condition with the 6ft 11 inch deep lead keel, standard rig. Boat sails great and is very comfy. I am 6ft 3 and have plenty of head and sleeping room below. I can single hand with the auto pilot but don't much. I have owned a Catalina 30, Hunter 35.5 and now the 36s7. The 36s7 if the most comfy and a very better performer. Fast and fun to race and cruise.
