Hello Folks Just ordered a new Ben 343, I have added the performance pack as one of the options. What am I likely to see as performance gains by adding the 3 bladed folding prop, full batten main and "flat cut" genoa. We are cruisers but like the idea of getting better boat speed from A to B I would be very interested to hear from any Beneteau owners opinions on the performance pack option or any other options We have gone for the deep keel also (1.9metre) option also added are Laminate floor in salon etc Double berth in salon Eberspacher D4 Yacht pack -- Sprayhood etc Raymarine C70,2k radar, Ray 435 plotter and Ray 6001 auto with S1G corepack. Ray 54E VHF, ST60 wind and ST60 multi Performance pack with larger winches 30 HP Yanmar 4 th winch on coach roof for chute etc thanks paul

Hello Cat yep the double berth in salon is an option here in UK code: ii 01001 double berth saloon blue pacifique @ 279 pounds sterling or less if you haggle ! we have that conversion on our Ben311 so wanted it again on the 343 just in case the clan turns up. paul

double conversion
Cat Admittedly it will be a small double because the table stays put. on our current Ben311 there is extra ply board underneath the port sofa which pulls out on wooden rails. You then remove the sofa backrest cushions and add the extra "bed" cushions over the ply board. Its not big and would not suite larger people but it looks ok. I might try it this weekend for an hour or two

Ah, I see. I guess that would be a snug fit for two. Once you get your boat, I'd be interested to hear (or see a picture?) how this works out for you. The 6-berth limitation seems to be one of the downsides on this boat. The 331 had a convertable salon table (and so do a lot of other boats in the class). Though I guess you can stick a family of four in the aft berth in a pinch.

...I too have a 343 on order and opted for remote mike at helm and inverter w/ 3rd battery and radar/plotter C 80...good sailing to both of us.

Sleeping for 6
I have a 331 and although it does have sleeping for 7, I think sleeping 7 people on a 33 foot boat is really crazy. I don't even sail with 7! That is just way to cramped. 4 is max! And for overnight, you better really be close friends to even do 4. I am always amazed that boat manufacturers like to make claims like "sleeps 10" on a 30-35 foot boat!! That would be like hell to me... I'd rather stay home.
