I inherited an old Autohelm 3000 with my boat. However, the drive belt is missing. Does anyone know what brand and model belt works with this unit? I’ve had no response from the manufacturer. Thanks

It its like my newer model (ST3000) The belt length depends on the installation. Several sizes are available. The manufacturer is Raymarine. They have a website and a customer service number. I've never had a problem getting through. You can probably even get a download of installation instructions and users manual.

In their infinite wisdom Autohelm uses belts which are not standard in any other application so one can't go to an industrial supplier and match it up. This insures you pay the special "marine price". I have had luck optaining spares on ebay but the do make several lengths depending on your application. I actually took a used one , cut it down and glewed it to the wheel pulley with contact cement to avoid the common problem with belt slipping. The belt teeth mesh like gears now

As the other posters mentioned, the belt size depends on the installation. I ordered mine from WM, but I took the # off of the broken belt. Use a piece of string or wire (something that won't stretch) to simulate the drive belt on the drive unit/boat wheel. Use the tightest measurement (The bail on the tensioner on the tightest setting). They sell them in pre-defined "inch" increments. WM can look up the part # from the length that you give them. Make sure it fits, then order a spare. Don't leave the belt in the sun when not in use.

Gregg I just went through this same exercise. You can get the belt direct from Raymarine, but you have to figure out the size, as you have deduced. To do that, you have to measure the distance from the center of your wheel in a straight line to where the pin hole is on the drive unit (not to the drive unit, but to the clevis pin hole). This is all explained in the old manuals for the Autohelm 3000, which are on the RayMarine web site. You have to dig a bit, but they're there. Click on the Customer Support link at the top of the page. Then click on Owners Manuals. Then look on the left side of the page under Autopilot Manuals, Retired Autopilot Manuals. Search the list for the Autohelm 3000 Wheel Autopilot or the ST3000. Print out the manuals after download, and the measurement instructions are in there. So, if the unit is installed already, measure the straight line distance from the wheel center to the clevis pin hole, and that is the size in inches of the belt. It's not the belt's total length. Then go to the Parts listing for the ST3000 and you will see 5 different belt sizes. Choose the one that is the closest to your measurement, and you're good. They will ship it quickly, I think 2nd day. Good luck. Ron
