I bought a 26' in January. Never sailed in my life. I have it docked at Oriental,NC. I am going down this weekend. Is there anyone that can take me out on it for money?
Please...

If you are willing to pay, seek a sailing school. There are a couple in your area. A structured program will get you up on the learning curve a lot faster.

There are a couple of meetup.com sailing groups in your area. They are always looking to go out. Whoever you go out with I would prequalify.

I would second taking an ASA 101 course. If you contact the local sailing schools, you might be able to find someone who is willing to give you private lessons on your boat, but I think an ASA 101 type course would be your best option. I'd also recommend you get and read David Seidman's The Complete Sailor, which is a very well written book with good illustrations that covers a wide breadth of sailing knowledge, techniques and theories, and is required reading among new members of my boat's crew. :) It is about $16 at the local bookstore.

Near Oriental

My wife and I bought our first sailboat about three months ago. It's a Catalina 22 that we keep in Washington, NC and we live in Greenville. We sail most weekends and would be glad to have you join us. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but it's a start. I think you can send a message through this site if you are interested.

I live in Greenville also, and my wife actually works in Washington too. Shes a art teacher at J.C.Tayloe. I would love to tag along on a sail. Let me know when you are going out sometime.

Small world

It really is a small world. Give me a call at my office, 321-3109, and we can exchange contact info. I'm a banker and my schedule is pretty flexible so maybe we can get together for a cup of coffee. I have a couple of friends in Greenville who keep their boats in Washington, and at least friend has a boat at the Pecan Grove in Oriental. I'm not sure what my sailing schedule will be this weekend due to the weather forecast and Mother's Day, but I'm trying to find a way to get out on the water.
