Hunter 33 FRANCE - SOUTH BRITTANY
On Decemeber 31 at 23:59, I will sign the purchase of a 2006' Hunter 33 that till now belongs to a friend. I have tested this great boat for 15 days at sea and I am fully satisfied. Well, one or two small things can be improved... But decision has been taken by the Admiral (my wife) and me.
I just want to collect comments from various Hunter 33 owners, abourt the "plus" and the "minus" of this boat. What is great, what is less great, what is to be taken care of, all that kind of things. The boat is based in France by the way. Nobody is perfect. Thanks to all.

Have had our 2009 H33 for two seasons and have been very satisfied with it. Itt has taken us a bit to get the performance out of it but its coming along quite nicely. Be plus...Mine has the bigger 30HP engine and I believe the biggest plus is how maneuverable it is. The one minus is with the freezer and fridge running it does consume the batteries. The rigging is great to handle. The one item about that that I would like to change is I wish we could put on a bigger headsail. However, with a good Asym you can overcome that issue. Good storage and comfortable inside. Enjoy it!!!

Congrats' and welcome. Nice boat :D

I guess it all depends on how you will be using the boat.... day sails or overnight cruising.

Sailing-wise, I love it. Easy to single-hand, which I do most of the time with just the two of us or even when we have friends on board. Jib sheets and traveller within reach. Did you get furling main or conventional, I really like the furling. We can easily hit 6.5 knots 12- 15 knots wind, but gets overpowered above 15 knots so start reefing ( furling ) at that point. Cockpit tends to get a little crowded with more than 4 people, although 2 seems to be ideal.

Interior, lots of space for this size boat. Only complaints are no drawers in the galley, hanging locker in the aft cabin ( who hangs their jeans and t-shirts ) which I've now converted to shelving, and nowhere to drop overnight bags in the aft cabin that s outof the way. Otherwise comfortable, has everything we need.

I could go on more. We stay anchored out on ours every weekend and take a 2 week cruise each summer andsail and stay on the anchor each night.

Enjoy,

Scott I concur with all you say. I agree with your comments about the interior. The performance is pretty good but not the best but we are still learning.

We use ours every weekend and spend the nights shored up or at anchor. Once per summer we go on a 10 Day outing. Here is a picture of us in July. Great fun!
