My boat my salvation, I could pay a shrink $200 an hour to tell me I should get a hobby or I could pay $250 a month for a slip and a few extra boat bux and have a hobby that also is a cardio vascular and aerobic workout (no gym fees) not to mention it gives my wife a break away from me...LOL

Exactly.
I have a lot of stresses in my life, raising a teenager on the autism spectrum. My boat is the only place in the world where I can forget the difficulties of life and focus deeply on something completely unrelated. It's my meditation, my refuge, and it's worth every penny I sink into it. Now, come back and talk to me when i get a case of two-foot-itis.

So true! I had my 26' T-Bird for 19 years of (mostly) single life. It sucked up every spare dollar I had. Well, come to think of it, the women and skiing contributed too. In that time though, I was a young man working my way up and that took huge hours and effort. The boat was therapeutic. I was an office drone, so the boat was a totally different environment. It made me learn painting, varnishing, carpentry, sewing, navigation, weather, ship to shore, electronics, etc. It kept me focused and less nuts than I otherwise might have been.

This explains a lot!
Or
Since you're thinking of a project boat...
Or
You will NEVER see this in the Owner's Cabin
When I was growing up in CA you needed either a boat or a cool car to get the girl! Has that changed?

I've always said, you can have money or you can have a boat but not both. I'll take my boat. Can't sail money. Now, if I could just find that girl with all the money...
