While Decommissioning my H34 last fall in noticed that the bedding that surrounds the strut that supports the prop shaft has a soft spot. no blister or leaks were noted. Your thoughts appreciated vis: 1. ignore 2. remove the soft spot area 3. Remove it all and start from scratch What would you recommend regards appropriate product/procedure thanx

Fix it if you can.

And good luck. My H37C has the same problem. I wanted to loosen the bolts, drop it down a half-inch, and fill it with 5200. But the big philips head screws have nuts on the inside that turn. And I can't find a way to get in there with a wrench. When you consider the torque and vibration on that strut I doubt that cleaning out the old sealant around the base and applying new will do much.

Strut stuff.

Finally got access by cutting a door in the aft cabin bulkhead. Now I have clear access to the stuffing box and strut mount in my H37C. Loosened the strut by putting a 9/16" box end wrench on the nut and then going outside with a very large phillips screwdriver with vise grips. On mine the sealant around the perimeter was not of waterproofing value. The strut base goes agains a very solid and flat section of fiberglass. So the area around the bolts and the holes are what keeps the water out. On the inside a liberal amount around the hole and under the washer should do it. One of the s/s nuts was stripped which may explain my small leak.
