Hola!I just returned from a 21 day adventure into the Prince William Sound. The O'Day did great, even in 8' confused seas. The problem that I encountered was that the boat did not sail into the wind very well. I think it may be the rig tension or possibly that I am not using the roller furling correctly. If anyone knows the proper tension for the standing rigging for the 25 76 Oday please respond. Also, any tips on sailing this boat with the roller furling please let me know. 21 days on the hook, 365 miles +, 3 days of gales and a 120 miles Gulf of Alaska tour of which 60 miles was "not fun". Outstanding begining of the season. We saw countless whales, shorebirds, seals, sealions, otters no one in sight, tons of sun, you know the rest. Excellent fishing and climbing! Our last day we topped off with 16 Silver Salmon and an escort into the harbor from 4 Dahl Porpise. Anyway, to much to mention please respond if you have time. David

Living my dreams.Sails are sails, You need to trim each sail as it is designed and cut.As you furl your sail, it changes shape and so should the trim. Trim is basic.Spend a nigt at Borders, buy a cup of coffee and read about sail trim.envious,r.w.landau

Correct Tension

David,Sounds like you had a fantastic time, gee, and I thought I had it great being able to sail in the Gulf of Mexico with crystal white beaches. I sail an O'Day 26 which had never been correctly set. Went to West Marine and bought a Loo's guage. Hey, David, haven't heard from you in a while. Glad to hear your inaugural cruise went well. With your cruzzin grounds how could it not be...8^)Any chance of postin some pix?Did you end up getting those sea kayaks?Anyways, I'm pulling the cord in my back again, and agreeing with Ben...get that Loos guage, and do the math to set it right. I tighten to 15% breaking wire strength on the outers and 12% for the lowers. Get that forestay as tight as you can with your RF on then use your backstay to put a bit of bend in the mast. This will compensate for the natural caternary you get with the heaavier foil from the RF. Also play with your jib sheet block settings. Got to agree with RW on a good techno book that has all the tips. Good sailing.Don
