I was sailing in a mountian lake with winds over 20 mph and found it very hard to tack into the wind. I understand that this leaves a lot to wonder, like if it's me or the boat. But I was hopeing to hear from any other Mac 25 owner that might have the same problem. But please responed with any helpful tips. I know I'm not the best and could use some expert advice. Thank you all.

Let me guess

Let me guess everytime you tried you made it to a point where the sails would luff for about 2 seconds and then wham it would slam you back in. Right ?

Try this

Chris, A long time ago when I was learning to sail, I learned a trick to coming about. It has always worked. Just before tacking, I veer away from the wind to gather speed. When the boat is at max speed, I then tack hard in one swift move all the way to the new course, making sure not to backwind the jib. Be very aggressive and make sure your crew knows what you are going to do. Try it. You might like it.

Jib Sheeting

Thank you for the responce. I was using a jib and the lines were inside the shrouds. After looking at your pix I can say that I do have a track which leads to a winch. Thanks again
