I recently purchased a 1994 Hunter 23.5 that I plan to sail in the shallow waters around Lewes, Delaware this year. I have seen several photos of H23.5's sitting completely out of the water on the beach. This looks like a great way to take a break during low tide, but is it a safe thing to do? Wouldn't this place a lot of weight and stress on the portion of the centerboard that doesn't fully retract into the hull?
