Thank goodness there were no casualties! Quite the party though, 1500! They'll have a tale to tell over the years!

We had a similar incident on the Eastern border a week ago, a love sick boy from Maine was refused entry by CBP at the St. Stephen/Calais, Maine crossing. He was headed to see his Canadian girlfriend but had a criminal record. He heard about the Port Huron trip and decided to try it on the St. Croix River on an air mattress, an American Border agent saw him and reported it to CBP, they arrested him as he hit the beach. He may still be in jail on the Canadian side, for illegal entry.

It's a pretty well known fact that a young adult male will do anything to spend some time with his girlfriend. That was a bad plan but I'm not saying I would have had a better one. He probably wasn't thinking about that "Criminal" thing. He was surely thinking of that other thang. Put him in jail - what a waste of time.
