Why would a tug driver elect to push the tanker...which is getting ready to anchor, directly under the anchor?

Sounds to me

Sounds to me like a line from Cool Hand Luke. What we have here is a failure to communicate.

I think Nice N Easy has it...

The failure to communicate might have been on board the tanker. I have a feeling they didn't really want to let go just there...maybe someone hit the wrong button?

One tough tug

It appears in the video that the tug deckhull was not breached. That anchors would have pulverized any fiberglass or wood boat. Must be a steel hull.
