Any recent experience with the channel into Bay Bridge Marina next to the Bay Bridge in Kent Island, MD? My boat draws 5.5. Thanks.HarryBethesda, MDHunter 456 "Czech Mate"
My Catalina 320 is docked there and the channel has just been dredged which is done annually. I've never seen less that 6 feet in the channel in very low tides and usually see 8-9 feet. If you follow the range in the channel, you should have no problem. There are other sailboats there drawing 5.5 feet.
Went in there last year on the Eastern Bay side with no problem. However, when leaving on the Chester River side we touched several times and were right in the middle of the channel. If they dredge recently I would not think you would have a problem this year. We draw 5' 6".
Bay Bridge Marina is not on Eastern Bay or the Chester River. It's on the Chesapeake Bay just south of the Bay Bridges. Were you perhaps thinking of Ketn Narrows?
Does sound like Tony was referring to Kent Narrows. We "touched" twice in the north side of Kent Narrows last season right down the center of the channel. although all the guides said to stay to the right, only way for us to get thru was to the left. I hear they are dredging this as well.
Yes, to clarify, I'm talking about the Bay Bridge Marina which is on the Bay, right next to where the Bay Bridge hits Kent Island. Very different from Kent Island Narrows, which has its own issues.Harry
