Great day to sail out to PIB. Tall ships and reenactment this weekend. Here's a couple pics.

Here's a couple more. Any OSU fans out there? The OSU Marching Band came in Sunday on the Miller Ferry, playing and marching in place, as they came past the marinas. In the background were red & gray fireworks going off. When the ferry docked, they marched straight off and to downtown PIB. I'm sorry to say that I only have one phone video, but I not sure I could have captured the excitement anyway. There must have been 3000 people that formed in behind as they marched through the streets, most dressed in OSU red. It was something to see!

Of course there also were frequent fly overs by bi-planes and a WWII bomber. Later there were two barges of fireworks going off. I could see boats everywhere on the lake. I'm thrilled that I was lucky enough to get a dock for the weekend. Heading out to the battle reenactment today and hoping to get some more pictures.

What a week. Took the boat out and got a mooring ball on the Sunday before and spent the entire week at PIB. Did lots of maintenance, drank a little beer, and enjoyed the week. Activities on Saturday and Sunday were great with the OSU band highlighting the day on Sunday. Monday was crazy. The boat parade to the re-enactment site was amazing. Everything from 19 tall ships to 60+ foot cabin cruisers to 14 foot fishing boats. Once the re-enactment started it was an amazing site to see the 1000+ boats moving with the ships. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event. We enjoyed it and hope everyone else did as well.

Crazy describes it

Rich,

It really was crazy! I was lucky enough to grab a dock at Oak Point State Park in the bay on Friday afternoon. I was planning to anchor out, but couldn't pass up a dock.

The local papers have been estimating 2000+ boats. Whatever it was, it was a lot more than I've ever seen in one spot.

Did you happen to see the four ships sitting between Middle Bass and Ballast early Monday as the haze cleared? It was eery feeling. It could have been 200 years ago.

We also stayed on a mooring all week at PIB. Had a great time. When we left Tuesday morning there were 9 tall ships docked or anchored out.

Nice boat

FiveO,

I remember seeing your boat, remembered the name really. Nice looking boat! Nine ships together would have been pretty cool to see in PIB. Lots of interesting & fun activities all weekend.
