Old battery sulfated a bit, green but only get about one quarter the charge, July 2012. My new battery deep charge I want to protect. Do I dare use these batterys together ? And the Orange dial switch, "off-battery one-both battery-battery two", someone have some sort of diagram, I know this is a easy thing but someone ran it for one battery. 1976 O'Day 25

Do not use those batteries together unless you want your new one to be as bad as your old one! Bolt one new battery to #1 lug, bolt another new battery to #2. Come off the third bolt on the 3 way switch to your DC wiring system. That is as simple as it gets so if you want more than that consult the wiring diagrams in the archives. Chief

Don't mix batteries of different ages.
the Orange switch is called a "3-way" Look around in the battery compartment for a second positive battery cable. the one on the old battery is 1 of 2 and the other is 2 of 2. The 3-way connects to both and allows you to select which one, or both are being used to power things.
If there is not an extra positive battery cable then the switch will have one of its terminals on the back with nothing on it. They should be labeled "1", "2", and "C". C goes to the loads, 1 and 2 go to the battery positive terminals. All the grounds should be connected and are not run through a switch at all.
