It depends a little on how much room you have available for your batteries. We can assume you're not interested in making any major changes to whatever battery box(es) you have now?
My first choice for a battery would be two 6v golf cart batteries wired in series for 12v. Get 'em at Sam's Club for about 72 bucks each. Don't get gels or AGMs...just regular ol' flooded lead acid batteries. Sam's batteries are Duracells by Eastern Penn and are good quality. Golf cart batteries are of course, deep cycle batteries.
If your needs are as light as you say, you could use the cart batts for both starting and for the "house".
My setup is the 6v cart batteries for starting and house, with a Sam's Club group 24 starting battery (NOT deep cycle) for emergency starting. This battery will only get used if I happen to run the house batteries down to the point where they can't start the engine.
If you're wondering about the golf cart batts, I suggest you do a search on this site and you'll quickly find the reasoning behind them.
