Well , my battery finally gave out. It was a prevalier agm? Anyway I need a new one. Any ideas on what I should get. Here in Kentucky my options are a deep cycle from Sam's or the like or expensive mail order for a gel or agm. I'm open to ideas..there is a six amp charger on my honda 9.9

Sam's

I bought 2 deep cycles for our 23.5 at Sam's. I think about $43 each. Mike S/V Sail La Vie

DC Battery

If you want AGMs this is a good source for most of the well regarded marine AGM batteries. Prices are reasonable.

3rd season on a Sam's

Actually it's a WalMart but they supply enough batteries to fishermen with trolling motors they must be pretty good. It'd be hard to justify the extra money for gel cells. Just be sure the charger turns off and doesn't trickle the battery to death. My H23.5 had a brand new cheap car battery when I bought it and it barely lasted the first season. Ken S/V WouffHong

Battery warehouses.

John: I bet if you look around you will find a battery warehouse. These guys sell all types of batteries for applications other than boating. I am just curious on how long you AGM lasted. What type of charger do you have on the battery? Have you thought about a solar panel to keep you battery topped off? I got 10+ years on my last set of gels. I do not consider this expensive. The key to ALL batteries is proper maintenance and charging.

batteries

Most folks use the marine deep cycle batteries which is the best. it allows the battery to be drained and recharged many times. A standard car battery cannot take this and will not last long as one post indicated as it is designed to have a full constant charge. Yes there are differneces in batteries. Selection of standard versus gel batteries is you choice but gel batteries have a tendancy to last longer and cost more. If you take your batteries out to store during the winter, put them on a board and not directly on the ground particulay concrete as it will drain a batterey. I am not a scientist but I have experienced this so often that I thought this needed to be past on. Crazy Dave Condon

Battery reserve amps

Battery info.....Is it to start a motor. if not then you need to look at the reserve amps....should be listed like .....ra or rc and that means that at 25 amps discharge it will last how long. some batteries last much longer than others......130 min at 25amps or 60 min at 25 amps.........depends on what your looking for. Do you have a charger avail after long battery use and the like. The more reserve amps then the battery will keep the anchor light on all night (not go dead) when not in a designated anchor area.
