Battery watering system

Finally installed the battery watering system for my 4 GC6 batteries. I had to trim the tubes between the three caps, but no big deal. Thought a lot about how to run the supply and connections between the batteries, but decided it probably didn’t matter that much.

That looks like the Flo Rite system if my guess is right. Why did you choose that over others and for those who have other brands, I’m curious what type and why.

I’ve thought about adding one but can’t decide which.

That one (FlowRite RV2000) popped up on Amazon. It’s the RV version, but I guess their batteries must have a slightly different cap spacing?

And I thought I was hi-tech with my auto-shutoff fill jug :)
I could see where this would be real handy with twice as many 6V batteries.

Especially with two of the openings under the lip!

I'm looking at this same issue so this is really helpful.

It was easy to install. Just had to be sure the connectors snapped into the caps. I didn’t squeeze the bulb real hard when filling the first time, but it went from real soft to pretty firm, so I’m guessing I got them all topped up.

Looks like you have each of the batteries in protective boxes per regulations, but where does the battery compartment vent to per regulations? It looks like the blue straps prevent the one inch movement in all direction regulations.

The battery compartment is not air tight. There is free air exchange at the bottom of that area.

How does that system prevent over filling of the cells, or does the battery acid move into the tubes slightly when the battery is being charged?
I “invested” in the water miser caps. They are about $50 for 12 caps:yikes:. Seem to work ok though.

They are supposed to vent thru the caps. When filling, there’s a float that seals off the water coming in when the cell is full. But now that you mention it I’m not exactly sure how it does all that.

I have a system like that for my golf cart and am not impressed with it. Main thing is that batteries rarely need water. I check them regularly in the Catalina 310 and estimate that I have to add water about once per year. So why have a watering system that is expensive and not very effective?
