battery size

Good Afternoon,
I'm beginning to question something I said on a forum post...Here's my question: Does the 272 LE use (2) group 24 batteries or Group 27 batteries?

I have (2) Group 29 batteries.

I believe that the "group number" just refers to the size of the batteries. I took out the big deep cycle battery box on my boat, and fitted a U1 tractor battery with appropriately sized box in my little O'day. It's more than enough for a couple of LED lights. So, theoretically, you could run the 272 with as big a battery as you can fit in the space, can't you? And generally, the bigger the battery, the more lead surface area, so the more capacity it ought to have....

The size is what I'm after....in that a group 27 battery is dimensionally larger
than a group 24....by a couple inches...I can't get on my boat as I've had
hip replacement surgery....31 days ago...If someone says the standard batteries are group 24 or 27, I'll know which I should buy to fit in the
various cases.....thanks for your help, Pat

Your 272LE should have battery boxes for group 27. As I stated mine are size 29 but these are basically the same size as 27's. O'Day doesn't specify size only that they are at least 95ah. Hopes this helps.

Thank you very much...I had the hip surgery 4 weeks and 3 days ago...but it is going very well....I'm now on a cane vs. the walker.....I think the original Deka batteries were two group 27 batteries....Pat

Pat - you sound like you have taken the step that I may soon have to take. I was told 9 yrs ago that I needed hip replacement by one Dr, told I needed back surgery by another. Seems bad hips run in my family - father has had 3 replacements, 5 yr younger sister had it done last year. Hip hurts all the time, but can't find anyone that convinced me that it may not be hip, but back. And at 66 yrs old, 215 lbs, it is hard to crawl down into lazarette where batteries are. And hard to hang head first into that area too...

Question for everyone - what is actual size of group 24, 27, 29 & 31 batteries. On my previous Columbia T-23, battery box was marked from actory as group 24. On O'Day, battery doesn't look much different in size. If I have to replace, don't want to buy battery then find out box is too small...

I first noticed my hip hurting maybe 2 years ago at the lake, walking from our slip to our club house....maybe a 1 1/2 block distance....finally went to a hip Dr. maybe 14 months ago...who said mine was in poor condition....finally after missing most of the things I enjoy most about Christmas, i.e. shopping, caroling, etc....I decided to do it.....I already have no pain........none at all.....am currently in my 5th week of physical therapy and am so thankful I've done this....plus, during my pt time, our lake has risen
3-4 feet and I can get my boat in it's slip when I'm more mobile...I changed doctors twice before deciding on the 'chosen' one....and I'm a very thankful boy at this time.....

I can confirm the 272 LE was sent with 2 group 27, 95 AH batteries, mfg'd by East Penn
Mfg./ Deka.....Thanks for the help, Patrick
