Need to replace the two batteries located under the H31 quarterbed (1986 model). Since I cannot get to the boat right now, who could advise me what kind of batteries I should purchase (ampage, size in inches)? I don't run any big power consumers on the boat, i.e. no a/c or fridge. Thanks for the help, guys!!

I would go with Group 31's
I would go with the Deep Cycle Group 31's. You really do not need a starting battery per se, so you may want to have as much power as possible with only two batteries. We had used G-31's in that area until just recently and they worked just fine. I prefer the AGM or Gel's. Many years of maintenance free service. Regardless of which type of battery you decide upon, make sure that you have a good 3 stage charger.
