It's been 7 years since I replaced our battery bank and appears to be the extent of it's useful life. We currently have a bank of 4 - Trojan T125 6V wet cell batteries for the house bank and although I am happy with their performance and longevity, would like to know if there is anything better. Current charging system consists of a Xantrex 40+, genset and 70 amp ext regulated alternator(which I know is minimal but will suffice).
AGMs seem not worth the extra cost to me simply based on how easily accessed my bank is to check water level and I really don't have any need for their more rapid recharge rate capability.
So my questions are:
1. what's the consensus on the best deep cycle battery for the buck?
2. any bad experiences with any brand(s)?
3. what would you buy and why?
thanks in advance for any recommendations or advice
