Rather than rewire the boat I'd like to try battery powered fans which I can relocate for the best flow. Any recommendations for which ones to buy?

On my 30' Hunter, I have two Nicro day and night 3" fans. One in each hatch.
The life is about six to seven years. Shop the internet for the best price which you will not find at West Marine.
If you place in the hatches, tape the area to be cut out, and use a hole saw that is the correct size. Use a clear calk and reverse the inside plate and just drill bolt holes through the hatch. Not a hard job.

Good luck

Thanks to all for the wonderful responses.

Been thinking about the days here in Maryland when it will be too hot on the water! (Not today!)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

O2Cool

I use an O2Cool fan. Uses 8 D cells or 12v. I plug in the AC adapter when at the dock and use the batteries or 12v cord w/lighter plug when anchored out. The D cells seem to last forever, so it must not draw much current. Good size, great output and can be hung with integral hook.

I like mine.

I can't recommend the O2Cool rechargeable fan. It only lasts about 6 hours on a charge. I have been reluctant to plug into my house bank using the 12v plug since I'm not sure what it draws. You can replace the rechargeable batteries with regular batteries so maybe that would give a longer run time.
